Week 8: Giving
Today’s Easy Task: Let’s first give ourselves to the Lord and then give God a percentage of our income
How to complete this task:
- Complete today’s task reading
- Pray today’s prayer
- Read today’s scriptures
- Give ourselves to God
- Give God a percentage of our income
Today’s Task Reading:
How do we rob God? We rob God when we fail to obey God’s instruction concerning giving our tithes and offerings (Malachi3:8). Unfortunately, when we rob God we will be cursed (Malachi 3:9). However, when we test God and give our tithes to organizations that build up God’s people and God’s kingdom. We help those organizations grow and not lack food, which leads to many blessings for us (Malachi 3:10-12). However, we first must give ourselves to the Lord (2 Corinthians 8:1-6). As discussed on day 52, we can’t give reluctantly, but should give cheerfully, because that is what God loves (2Corinthians 9:7). Where do our priorities lie, is it with God or with material things? Money should be a tool to complete God’s work. Matthew 6:33 says “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all things will be added unto you.” Let’s avoid the trap of purchasing and hoarding more than we need. Let us give out the abundance of our hearts. Let’s accept God’s invitation to test Him and see if giving our tithes and offering will bless us financially (Malachi 3:10).
Today’s Prayer: God, You are our Lord and savior. You give us life, health and strength. You are King of kings and Lord of lords. We don’t want to rob You by failing to obey Your instructions concerning giving our tithes and offerings. We don’t want to be cursed. We want to build up God’s people and God’s kingdom. Help us to not give reluctantly, but cheerfully. Help our priority to lie with You. Help us use our money as a tool to complete God’s work. Forgive us for not seeking first the kingdom of God and Your righteousness. Please forgive us for purchasing and hoarding more than what we need. Help us to give out the abundance of our hearts. We want to accept Your invitation to test You and see if giving our tithes and offerings will bless us financially. Forgive us for all our debts, trespasses, and sins as we forgive our debtors and those who have trespassed and sinned against us. Lead us not into temptation. Everyday help us to be equipped with the full armor of God as You deliver us from evil. For Yours is the Kingdom, Power and Glory. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen.

Malachi 3:8-12 New King James Version (NKJV)
Do Not Rob God
8 “Will a man rob God?
Yet you have robbed Me!
But you say,
‘In what way have we robbed You?’
In tithes and offerings.
9 You are cursed with a curse,
For you have robbed Me,
Even this whole nation.
10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse,
That there may be food in My house,
And try Me now in this,”
Says the Lord of hosts,
“If I will not open for you the windows of heaven
And pour out for you such blessing
That there will not be room enough to receive it.
11 “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes,
So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground,
Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,”
Says the Lord of hosts;
12 “And all nations will call you blessed,
For you will be a delightful land,”
Says the Lord of hosts.
2 Corinthians 8:1-6 New King James Version (NKJV)
Excel in Giving
8 Moreover, brethren, we make known to you the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia: 2 that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded in the riches of their liberality. 3 For I bear witness that according to their ability, yes, and beyond their ability, they were freely willing, 4 imploring us with much urgency [a]that we would receive the gift and the fellowship of the ministering to the saints. 5 And not only as we had hoped, but they first gave themselves to the Lord, and then to us by the will of God. 6 So we urged Titus, that as he had begun, so he would also complete this grace in you as well.
2 Corinthians 8:4 NU, M omit that we would receive, thus changing text to urgency for the favor and fellowship
2 Corinthians 9:7 New King James Version (NKJV)
7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of [a]necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.
2 Corinthians 9:7 compulsion
