Week 5: Working Hard and Working Smart
Today’s Easy Task: Do the 15 minute rule to beat procrastination
How to complete this task:
- Complete today’s task reading
- Pray today’s prayer
- Read today’s scriptures
- Set our timer for 15 minutes
- Do whatever task that needs to done in those 15 minutes
Today’s Task Reading:
Wow we are in week 5. This week we will focus on working smarter and not harder by eliminating procrastination. Constantly putting things off is a form of laziness or inability to focus. It causes us to feel stressed when facing a deadline or do below average work. So today’s task we will do the 15-minute rule. It is a perfect technique for anyone who needs help with just getting started. First we will get our phone and set our timer for 15 minutes. Then we will do whatever task that needs to be done in those 15 minutes. Then after the 15 minutes is up, we can stop doing the task, but we will most likely find ourselves unable to stop and continue following through on completing that particular task. This is a great way to trick ourselves into doing the task we’ve been putting off.
Also, we can learn how to work hard and smart by studying ants (Proverbs 6:6-11)! What can ants teach us? The ants can teach us hard work, patience, diligence, following through, being goal oriented, on time and unified. They overcome obstacles to achieve their goals and do not give up! If obstacle comes in their path, they are patient enough to rebuild the path and continue to work towards the same goal.
We don’t want to be habitual procrastinators aka lazy (Proverbs 6:9), irrational (Proverbs 20:4), reckless (Proverbs 22:13), irritating (Proverbs 10:26), and irresponsible (Proverbs 24:30-34). If we suffering financial because of poor money management, we should try increasing our income, living below our means, saving, investing early, and getting out of debt. If we are suffering physically because of poor diet and inactivity, we should try making 90 percent of diet highly nutritional foods, which includes fresh juices and smoothies, salads, and wraps. As well as, try low impact exercises such as PraiseMoves: The Christian Alternative to Yoga, Pilates, rebounding and walking at home for at least 15 minutes a day. You have the option of dividing your exercise into 3 five-minute sessions throughout the day. We just need to do it at our own pace and pay attention to our body. Stop if we feel dizzy, lightheaded, chest pain, irregular heartbeat, shortness of breath, and nausea.
Today’s Prayer: God, You are Elohim – full of power and strength. You reign in heaven, earth and our lives. Give us today the motivation, passion and desire we need to work smart. Teach us to work like the ants with patience, diligence, great following through, focus, punctuality and unity. Forgive us for any hint of procrastination, laziness, irrationality, recklessness, foolishness, and untrustworthiness that is operating in our lives. Today we repent and turn from laziness. We ask that the Holy Spirit continually ignite fire in our hearts to increase our income, live below our means, save, invest, and get out of debt. Holy Spirit help us to consistently make 90% percent of diet highly nutritional foods, and exercises at least 15 minutes every day. So we can work smart as we achieve our health and wealth goals. In Jesus name, Amen.
