Today’s Task Reading

So far this week, we are developing self-control, routine, a day of fasting, streak for our health and wealth.  Today we are improving our memory.

Our #1 focus should be building up our inner self.  If we build our inner self first – spirit & soul, we will automatically produce habits that will help build up our body (1 Timothy 4:6-8).

Exercising our inner self requires for us to exercise our senses – sight, hearing, taste, smell, touch – as we live.  The more we exercise our senses the more intelligent and discerning we will be  (Hebrews 5:14).

In this day and age, it is easy to rely on technology to do the thinking for us.  We can easily look up information instead of memorize it.  Yet, there are many benefits to memorization.

  • It trains our brain to remember things and retain information
  • It keeps our brain healthy
  • It makes our brain easily recall more information
  • It makes our brain more quick and agile
  • It allows our brain to focus on more advance concepts and information, instead of  foundational concepts and information
  • It increases our capacity to focus
  • It teaches us to hold information in our mind which improves our capacity to learn and be creative
  •  It delays cognitive decline as we get older.

Even though we have technology, it should not stop us from exercising our minds and learning to remember things.  We need to do activities that require us to use your mind, because when we try to remember, our mind starts working and searching for information which is a great exercise for our mind.  Memorization is great for improving our working memory.  Berries are great for improving long-term memory.  Exercising is great for improving cognitive ability and memory recalling.  Also, sleep is such a big key to having a good memory.

When our memory isn’t the best, we should ask the Holy Spirit to teach us and help us remember what He has taught us. The Holy Spirit is our helper and counselor (John 14:26).    We should definitely trust and rely on Him.

Today’s Prayer:  God, Elohim- You are strong and my creator.  You made us in Your image and with Your words You put the world together.  We honor You.  We thank you for helping us to develop our memory.  Thank you for teaching us how we can train our brain to build our short-term and long-term memory.  Thank You giving us Your Holy Spirit to teach us the best ways to develop our memory so we can have abundant life.  Forgive us when we fail to use the creative power You installed in us.  Forgive us for any doubt, we want to completely trust You with every aspect of our lives.  In Jesus Name, Amen.

Today’s Scriptures:  Timothy 4:6-8, Hebrews 5:14, John 14:26

1 Timothy 4:6-8 New King James Version (NKJV)
A Good Servant of Jesus Christ
6 If you instruct the brethren in these things, you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished in the words of faith and of the good doctrine which you have carefully followed. 7 But reject profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness. 8 For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.

Hebrews 5:14 New King James Version (NKJV)
14 But solid food belongs to those who are [a]of full age, that is, those who by reason of [b]use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
