Week 2: Using The Bible for Guidance

Today’s Easy Task: From sundown Friday to sundown Saturday prepare to fast from eating & spending

How to complete this task:

  • Complete today’s task reading
  • Pray today’s prayer
  • Read today’s scriptures
  • Try partial fast – excluding dairy, meat & alcohol for a day (Daniel 10:3)
  • Try complete fast – drinking water or juice for a day 
  • Cut out spending for a whole day
  • Gain strength by relying on the Holy Spirit and the Holy Bible (Luke 4:1-2)

Today’s Task Reading

Yesterday, you created a heath and wealth routine!  That’s Awesome!

Today is now the time for resting!  I know it may not be officially the Sabbath, but I want you to get into the resting mindset so you will be ready to rest on the Sabbath.  Matthew 11:28-29 says “come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest”.  One day out of the week (Friday sundown to Saturday sundown) we should fully rest just like God the creator or heavens and earth (Exodus 20:8-11).  That means on the Sabbath day we should eat less and allow our bodies to rest from digestion.  Also on the Sabbath, we should move around less and take a break from daily jobs and physical chores.  So we can totally experience the Lord’s rest.  I believe the Sabbath (Friday sundown to Saturday sundown) is God’s appointed time for us to rest in him (Exodus 33:14).   

In the 23rd Psalms, there’s a verse that says, “He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still water.  He restores my soul” (Psalm 23:2-3). God truly wants us to rest.  He doesn’t want us to be burdened and stressed.  He doesn’t want us to worry about money and health.  He doesn’t want us concerned about what to eat, drink, wear (Matthew 6:31-32).  Instead, He wants us to keep our mind on Scriptures.  The rest resets our mind and body. 

Today’s Prayer:  God, You are our shepherd.  You give rest to the weary and the wounded.  You supply all our needs.  Thank you for giving us rest and being our provider.  Help us to fellowship with You just as Adam fellowship with You on the first Sabbath.  We need Your presence.  Forgive us for not making time to fellowship with You.  Let us forgive those who have neglect spending time with us.  Help our fellowship to be with love.  Help us to resist the temptation to work constantly without rest.  Help us to rest especially in your presence so our body, mind, spirit can receive total restoration. In Jesus Name, Amen.
